Saginaw Bay Symphony Chamber Ensemble presents: A Little Night Music - All Mozart
The State Theatre proudly presents a brand new event at the State: The Saginaw Bay Symphony Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of Stephen Shipps.
About the Orchestra
The SBSO Chamber is designed to introduce music that is not ordinarily experienced in a large symphony orchestra concert setting. Chamber music bestows a smaller, more "intimate" sound which we invite our audiences to encounter and enjoy.
The SBSO was created as a project of the Saginaw Department of Parks and Recreation in 1935 and has performed an annual concert series ever since. It was incorporated as a separate nonprofit corporation in 1953. At this time it also became one of the 50 orchestras who were named charter members of the American Symphony Orchestra League.
The Orchestra is a fully-professional ensemble which draws its members from throughout Michigan. In addition to its classical concerts, the Orchestra has produced a wide variety of chamber, pops, educational and historical concerts, as well as opera, ballet and modern dance. Nearly 5,000 community performers, over half of whom are children, have shared the stage with the Orchestra in performances over the years.
The SBSO has established a proud legacy of providing quality musicianship, innovative programming and excellent educational experiences to the people of Mid-Michigan.
