ROCK ANTHEM

A well known disc jockey came and watched the members of the band performing and later stated on his program, "I was blown away, they must have 200 years experience between them". He was nearly dead on. Rock Anthem is a group of seasoned musicians that have found there is no better feeling than looking over at the guy jamming next to you and being blown away. This is one of those rare associations, and they don't happen often. These five musicians rock together just because it feels great to perform the songs they love, and the enthusiasm they generate is contagious. 1967 to 1972 was a small window in historical terms, but musically, the world was changing and these songs told the tale; Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Led Zeppelin, Badfinger, Lovin Spoonful, Cream, Amboy Dukes, Pink Floyd, Santana, Moody Blues, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, and many more. These are the bands that wrote the anthems of a generation, and they are not the songs you will hear walking into the corner bar. The painstaking attention to detail, the synthesizer programming, guitar tones and the raw energy of this performance will leave you with memories that scream you have just witnessed something rare and powerful. An evening with Rock Anthem will stay with you as strongly as the original recordings of these great songs.

Chris Marshall - Guitar

Chris was the guy that every other player referred to as The guitarist in Rochester. He started playing at 10, and was gigging by the 9th grade. In his senior year he played with Pep Perine, drummer from the Bob Seger System, and the 3rd power. He played with Pendragon in 78, where he first worked with Denis and Rich, reuniting with both in Roxius years later. In addition to being a great guitarist with the tone of the gods, Chris is a still life artist and guitar builder.

Denis Ikeler - Keyboards and backing vocals

A child prodigy, started playing classical piano at age seven, played his first recital at nine. Was lured into the throes of rock and roll and never looked back. Denis played in the Flint band Sass where he first played with drummer Rich Allen in 1977. He then did stints with Pendragon, In the Red and Ron Trombly before joining Roxius in 2013, where he was reunited with Rich, and guitarist Chris Marshall. His use of pre-recorded effects and tone patches for his five keyboards is nothing short of breathtaking.

Barry George - Bass and vocals

A seasoned performer if there ever was one. Barry spent 17 years touring the world with Mitch Ryder, then did brief gigs with Mark Farner, Spencer Davis, Badfinger, Rick Derringer and many more. He's opened for Chuck Berry, Little Richard, the Beach Boys, the Turtles, and Michigan bands the Romantics, the Frost and dozens more. He also plays in the local band the George Brothers.

Johnny Heaton - Rhythm guitar and vocals

A Waterford native, Johnny played with the local band Tantrum in the seventies and then went west. During his career he has performed with may bands and opened shows for Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Spirit, Ten Years After, The Rockets, and The MC5 among others. While living in California he played with Jeff Gold and the Travelers, Raspin Stewart and the Restless Rhythms as well as playing solo shows at places like the Troubadour, Universal and Mommas Pajamas. He was one of the founding members of Roxius, playing with Denis, Rich and Chris since 2013.

Rich Allen - Drums and vocals

Similar to Chris, Rich started playing at age ten and did his first gig in 1969 at Rochester High. He played with local band Boa before joining a 50's band that backed Del Shannon, Jackie Wilson, Len Barry, Freddie Cannon, Bo Diddly, the Coasters, the Drifters and many others. He recorded with Mitch Ryder, toured with Chubby Checker and has opened for Hall & Oates, , Spirit, Huey Lewis and REO. He also won the Detroit radio station, WRIF drum off.
